Some plastic components are made of pure resin, such as polyethylene and polystyrene
Some plastic components are made of pure resin, such as polyethylene and polystyrene, and are referred to as single-component plastics. Others contain additional materials in addition to synthetic resin, such as plasticizers, stabilizers, colorants, and various fillers, and are referred to as multi-component plastics.
The primary properties of plastic components, such as mechanical strength, hardness, weather resistance, elasticity, chemical stability, and optical properties, are determined by the synthetic resins within the plastic components. Synthetic resins are high-molecular-weight compounds synthesized from low-molecular-weight compounds produced under specific conditions using raw materials such as coal, calcium carbide, petroleum, natural gas, and certain agricultural byproducts, followed by chemical and physical processing methods.
